Heart 2 Heart Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving animal welfare in Charlton County through community-driven programs. Founded in 2024, we are entirely volunteer-operated and rely on donations, grants, and in-kind support to fuel our mission.
We are not a shelter (yet!), but we are a lifeline — filling critical gaps with practical, grassroots solutions that make an immediate difference for animals and the people who care about them.
To improve the lives of animals in Charlton County by:
Providing Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) services to reduce cat overpopulation.
Operating a pet food bank to support local families in need.
Promoting responsible pet ownership through outreach and education.
We are committed to reducing suffering, preventing overpopulation, and fostering a more compassionate, informed community.
We envision a community where every animal is treated with kindness and preventable suffering is eliminated. By empowering residents with resources, knowledge, and support, we aim to build a sustainable model of animal welfare — one where collaboration, compassion, and education lead the way toward a future with fewer homeless pets and stronger human-animal bonds.
Community Cat TNVR – Humanely reducing overpopulation through spay/neuter, vaccination, and safe return.
Animal Food Bank – Providing cat and dog food to families in need, keeping pets and their people together.
Rescue Partnerships – Collaborating with sanctuaries and fosters to provide safe placement for animals without homes.
Foster & Adoption Support – Building a network of fosters and connecting adoptable animals with loving homes.
Community Outreach & Education – Hosting events, sharing resources, and helping residents find humane solutions.
Grassroots Fundraising – Operating a thrift/yard sale hub where 100% of proceeds support animal welfare programs.
With a permanent facility, Heart 2 Heart will, in phases, expand into a full-service animal welfare clinic and resource center, offering:
Low-cost preventative care (vaccines, microchipping, wellness).
An expanded TNVR program with recovery space for community cats.
A permanent on-site food bank with greater capacity.
Adoption and foster coordination for cats and dogs.
Public workshops and youth education programs to strengthen community engagement.
In Charlton County, many pet owners face real barriers to getting the care their animals need. The nearest low-cost clinics are nearly an hour away, and transportation, mobility, or financial challenges can make that distance feel impossible. At the same time, there is no local shelter — which means there’s no single place for families to turn when they find a stray, need pet food, or want affordable spay/neuter services.
Heart 2 Heart Humane Society was created to bridge that gap. By working hand-in-hand with residents, local leaders, and community partners, we provide practical, grassroots solutions that keep pets healthy, families supported, and animals out of crisis. We believe Charlton County deserves the same access to resources that larger communities take for granted — and we’re here to help make that a reality.
Every $55 donation covers TNVR for one community cat. Every bag of food keeps a pet with their family. Every volunteer hour helps us build a kinder, stronger Charlton County.
Together, we can create a future where no animal is left behind.
